Sexual Assault Bill Set for Senate Committee Hearing

The hearing signals momentum for a bill from New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and others to take sexual assault investigations in the Armed Forces out of the control of the chain of command.

Backers of the bill say they want to win its inclusion in annual Defense Authorization bill, which passes every year. Inclusion would give the assault bill good odds of passage.
