Editorial: Pentagon should release sexual assault records
The Editorial Board of the News Journal writes:
An age-old tactic of bureaucracies is to stall. Keep the complainers waiting and eventually they will go away. The Pentagon, supreme headquarters of bureaucratic tacticians, is trying to play that game with Democrat Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York.
Her request is an urgent one. The Pentagon should be more forthcoming with its records of sexual assaults against America’s military personnel. Keep that point in mind. We ask these young men and women to step into harm’s way on our behalf. We ask them to risk life and limb, to spend months away from home in forlorn outposts. But we will not take steps to guarantee their protection against sexual predators in our own forces.
