IG criticisms of military sexual assault training don’t go far enough, advocacy groups say

According to the DoD’s SAPRO, 74% of women in the military and 60% of men perceived one or more barriers to reporting sexual assault in 2012, including fear of professional or social retaliation. Nancy Parrish, president of Protect Our Defenders, which supports and advocates for military victims of sexual assault, highlighted those statistics in her statement in support of Senator Gillibrand’s bill.
