New Bill Aims to End Sexual Assault Cases in the Military

KION News of Monterey California reports:

Senator Barbara Boxer is spear heading a new bi-partisan bill called the Military Justice Improvement Act. Senator Boxer says this bill will address the epidemic of sexual assaults in the military, by allowing prosecutors, not commanding officers, to make the final decision on sexual assaults.

“I am a survivor of military sexual trauma,” said Stacy Thomason.

For the first time today, Marine Veteran Thomason publicly told her story about getting raped when she served.

“It’s a dangerous environment,” said Kate Webber, another military rape survivor.
