Politico: McCaskill to speak on military sexual assault

HAPPENING ON THE HILL – McCASKILL TO SPEAK ON MILITARY SEXUAL ASSAULT:Back home in Missouri, Sen. Claire McCaskill’s has come under attack on the issue of military sexual assault because of her decision to back Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin’s approach to the problem. Protect Our Defenders, an advocacy group representing sexual assault victims, ran a half-page ad in the St. Louis Post Dispatch describing McCaskill as an obstacle to meaningful reforms to reduce crimes within the ranks. Today, McCaskill — who has said she was “stunned” by the attack given her work on the issue — is speaking out.
