Sexual assault votes still stalled

Politico reports:

In exchange for allowing the Senate to vote on the military sexual assault issue, Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) demanded a separate debate on a bill that would impose additional sanctions on Iran if it fails to follow through on its end of a temporary nuclear deal with the U.S. and other global powers.

Moran’s request, however, didn’t fly during a brief exchange on the Senate floor with Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.). A Democratic aide said Reid will now be forced to file a motion to end debate to get votes on the two sexual assault bills.

Both military sexual assault and Iran sanction measures were originally proposed as amendments during floor debate late last year on the annual defense authorization bill.
