Aaron’s Story
The sexual assaults occurred twice in 1981 and 1982 when I was in my early thirties.
There were three perpetrators, older and higher in rank. One was an officer, a Captain in his forties, and the other two were enlisted E-7/9 and around the same age as the Captain. The assault happened overseas and they drugged me with a “Venus Fly Trap” drug in my soda and violated me. When I woke up, I had defecated on myself with some blood passing as well and I was groggy and bleeding.
I never told anyone. Then, a few months later, an assault happened again when I was drugged with some pills at a celebration event. I was again violated. The assault did not stop until I physically fought back one of the perpetrators and the other two had Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders.
I never reported it because I would have been dishonorably discharged for those homosexual or “witch hunt” acts. I thought about suicide ever since. My self-esteem has been shattered.
I wanted to share my story in order for me to get better and to start to gain some sanity in my life after years of the trauma and pain that I have from this MST. I also hope that by my coming forward as a “Same Sex MST Survivor” that my sharing may help someone who is going through a similar ordeal find the courage to get help and to have a voice rather than allowing the military system to cut out or mute their tongues.
